Greg Hise Greg Hise is associate professor in the School of Policy , Planning & Development at the University of Southern California , where he holds joint appointments in the departments of history and geography. He is the author of Magnetic Los Angeles: Planning the Twentieth-Century Metropolis (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1997; awarded the Spiro Kostof Prize and Pflueger Award), co-author of Eden by Design: The 1930 Olmsted-Bartholomew Plan for Los Angeles County (University of California Press, 2000), and co-editor of Land of Sunshine: An Environmental History of Metropolitan Los Angeles (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2005). He is at work on a glossary of keywords in urbanism and a study of land use, architecture, and identity in nineteenth-century Los Angeles .
