Shimberg Center shares $370,000 grant from MacArthur Foundation
October 28, 2013 – UF’s Shimberg Center for Housing Studies and Program for Resource Efficient Communities (PREC) have been awarded $370,000 from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation for research on energy efficiency and utility costs in affordable rental housing.

Jennifer Ramski stays connected to her hometown, passionate about interior design
August 22, 2013 – Jennifer Ramski, NCIDQ, IDAF (Interior Design Association of Florida), IND 1978, is a sixth generation Gainesvillian. She also is a P.K. Yonge “lifer,” meaning she attended UF-affilated P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School from kindergarten through 12th grade. When she had a chance to work on the furniture specification for the school’s new P.K. Yonge 21st century K-5 learning center, it was particularly gratifying.
Guy Peterson OFA named AIA Florida Firm of the Year
August 07, 2013 – The Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Florida) recently announced that Guy Peterson OFA, a Sarasota based architectural firm, has been selected to receive the 2013 AIA Florida Firm of the Year Award. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in design, community services, education, and service to the profession and the AIA by an architectural firm.

Doctoral student interns at Fallingwater
July 10, 2013 – DCP doctoral student Larry Frey was selected to intern this summer at Frank Lloyd Wright’s famed historic structure, Fallingwater. Frey applied for the internship and was selected by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
Mike Stauffer architect of HGTV’s Smart Home 2013
July 08, 2013 – Mike Stauffer, BDes 1986 and MArch 1988, was the architect for HGTV’s Smart Home 2013. HGTV’s Smart Home was part of a contest giveaway. The house was built and designed with eco-friendly features and Stauffer was part of the design/build team.
UF announces launch of CityLab-Sarasota
June 26, 2013 – The University of Florida School of Architecture announces the August 2014 launch of CityLab-Sarasota, a Master of Architecture program.
Solar-enabled Mobile Kiosk
June 24, 2013 – Challenge: create a kiosk that is mobile, transported by a bike, made of steel and solar panels, has LED lighting and is used to charge laptops and cell phones. This was the challenge accepted by 14 architecture students and seven building construction students in the Integrated Project Delivery course this spring.
