Urban Design Studio students work with DCP alums
February 25, 2013Javier Omana, Vice President of CPH Engineers and URP alum (class of 1982) and Christina Lathrop, Partner with Dix Lathrop Associates and LAE alum (class of 2012) recently joined landscape architecture students in an all day charrette exploring transportation-oriented development proposals for the Longwood Station district in Orlando. According to LAE student Johan Bueno, “having someone whose life is filled with codes and regulations tell us that our sometimes outlandish ideas are valid is the best feeling in the world.”

Thompson receives Council of Educators’ outstanding communications award
April 17, 2012Kevin Thompson, assistant professor of landscape architecture, presented a paper as a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Sustainable Development in Bali, Indonesia.

Gurucharri named DCP Teacher of the Year
February 09, 2012 – The College Awards Committee has recommended Tina Gurucharri, associate professor and chair of the landscape architecture department, as DCP’s Teacher of the Year for 2011-2012.

Thompson leads student team in springs study

September 26, 2011 – Four DCP students are the recipients of a 2011 American Society of Landscape Architects National Honor Award in the Communication Category for their Landscape Invocation Blog.

Thompson, students launch mapping project in Indonesia
September 26, 2011 – In August, LAE master’s student Chris Lathrop and LAE junior Hannah Plate assisted Kevin Thompson, assistant professor of landscape architecture, in the field in Bali where the group launched its latest research initiative, “MapPack” – a participatory community mapping project in the Balinese highland village of Bangli.

DCP hosts New Student Showcase
March 04, 2011 – On March 26 from 1:45 to 5 p.m., DCP will host our College Showcase for potential new undergraduate students. The event will be held in the Architecture Building Atrium.

Flood, Thompson named DCP International Educator of the Year
November 22, 2010 – Ian Flood, associate professor of building construction, and Kevin Thompson, assistant professor of landscape architecture, both were recently named DCP International Educator of the Year for 2010, an honor that recognizes outstanding international endeavors by faculty and staff.

Both Flood and Thompson have gone above and beyond the normal call of duty in their efforts to bring a global perspective onto campus by successfully integrating teaching, research and service learning initiatives.
