Landscape Architecture Courses

LAA 6525L – Advanced Landscape Construction Design
4 Credits Studio

Prerequisites: LAA 3420 and LAA 3421 or equivalents

General
The purpose of this course is do demonstrate the relationship between design and construction, and to instruct the student how to prepare a comprehensive set of construction documents.

Objectives
Students will complete a full set of construction documents to support an individually developed design concept and will include the following drawings in the final set:

Title Sheet

Layout and Dimension Plan

Grading and Drainage Plan and Details

Paving Plan and Details

Masonry Wall Plan (free-standing and retaining) and Details

Wood Structure Plan and Details

Landscape Plan and Details

Irrigation Plan and Details

Accessories Plan and Details (play equipment, furniture, or water feature, etc.)

The preparation of Specifications, Quantity Take-Offs and an Estimate of Probable Construction Cost will also be a part of the

regular assignments. Occasional field trips to observe local construction sites or materials may be taken.

Performance
Students will be evaluated on the accuracy and completeness of the documents produced and on a research paper about a selected construction product or method of construction.
