LAA 4935 - Gardens of The World

General
This is an elective course for all majors at the University of Florida.
It addresses the importance of gardens throughout history as expressions
of man's interaction with the environment. Principles of design,
philosophies of movements and cultural differences are explored
through presentations, guest lecturers and selected readings.
Objectives
These are related to diversity of student background:
1. Facilitate broad appreciation of the idea of garden
2. Foster appreciation of the design process
3. Establish a vocabulary of world gardens
4. Develop an understanding of the importance of the designed landscape
to society and the individual.
Performance
Students are expected to participate in discussions. Quizzes and/or
work assignments are the basis for evaluation.
