Landscape Architecture Courses

LAA 4359 Environmental Planning & Design Studio
6 credits Studio
Prerequisites: LAA 4353 Urban Design Studio
URP 4273 Survey of Planning Information Systems

General
This design studio will introduce students to decision-making and the regional scale (county-scale and larger). It will build upon the principles and technologies introduced in LAA 4382 Environmental Methods and GIS as well as all the previous design studios.

Objectives
• To understand the influence of context in design decision-making.

• To explore principles of landscape ecology and their influence on design decision-making.

• To explore land use conventions and Florida regulations and their influence on design decision-making.

Performance
It is expected that each student will be able to demonstrate qualitative growth for each of the objectives by the end of the course. Course grade will be based on problem solving skills as they relate to the achievement of the objectives.
