Courses LAA 3352 - Planting Design Studio

General
This course is a continuation of the objectives of LAA 3350. The
emphasis is extended to projects of a larger scale with a focus
on ecological determinants for form and spatial expression, planting
design and community design theories.
Objectives
- Continued affirmation of ecological and behavioral tenets as
integral design components.
- Exploration of the use, function and esthetics of plants in
organizing and structuring space.
- Exploration of determinants and expressions for community design.
- Development of effectiveness and leadership in an advocacy climate.
Performance
It is expected that each landscape architecture student will be able
to demon-strate qualitative growth in the 4 objective areas by the
end of the semester. Competency must be demonstrated in decision making
and form determination based upon the student's understanding of landscape
architecture design methodologies.
Prior to advancing to the senior year, all students will present a
compendium of their junior work for review by the landscape architecture
faculty.
Each student is required to complete an internship with a professional
firm prior to entering the senior year. In this regard, the student
may wish to register for LAA 4940 - Internship, to meet this professional
requirement.
