Maruja Torres-Antonini, PhD, a Fulbright scholar, has taught in architecture and interior design programs in Venezuela and the United States. She engages in creative, interdisciplinary, collaborative work and projects aimed at service-learning and participatory action research. Her research efforts, conference presentations, and publications have addressed a range of issues at the human-environment interface, among others passive solar design of vernacular buildings; environmental behavior within cohousing communities; gaming simulation applications for sustainability education; and sustainable campus housing. Dr. Torres-Antonini is a LEED-Accredited Professional and co-researcher in the UF Team project to build a pre-fabricated self-sufficient solar house for the Solar Decathlon Europe 2010 international competition.
