Each student must develop with his or her
temporary committee a plan of study during the first semester
in the Ph. D. Program. This written document remains in the student's
file and is used by the student and later the Supervisory
Committee as the guide for course selections and research
or teaching experiences.
Ninety semester credit hours (90) of course work are required
for the Ph. D. degree. These include a (10) credit hour core
and a minimum of (15) credit hours for the dissertation (see
Student Study Plans and
Ph. D. course listing).
This may include all graduate work completed at the University
of Florida; or, it may include a credit of up to (30) hours
of a master degree from another university. The Supervisory
Committee Chair, Director of the Ph. D. Program, and the Dean
of the Graduate School must approve the (30) credit hour master
degree transfer. A request is made for the 30 credit hour transfer
when the doctoral student is admitted to candidacy.
