CURRENT COURSES
Ninety semester credit hours (90) of course work are required for the Ph. D. degree. These include a (10) credit hour core and a minimum of (15) credit hours for the dissertation (see Student Study Plans and Ph. D. course listing). This may include all graduate work completed at the University of Florida; or, it may include a credit of up to (30) hours of a master degree from another university. The Supervisory Committee Chair, Director of the Ph. D. Program, and the Dean of the Graduate School must approve the (30) credit hour master degree transfer. A request is made for the 30 credit hour transfer when the doctoral student is admitted to candidacy.

DCP7790 - Doctoral Core I (3) Philosophy, theory, and history of inquiry into the processes of design, urban development, and building systems. (Required)
DCP7792 - Doctoral Core II (3) Prereq: DCP7790, Urban, environmental, and legal systems in the context of urban development. (Suggested but not Required)
DCP7794 - Doctoral Seminar (1; max: 4) Coreq: DCP7911, For entering Ph. D. students. Successfully negotiating graduate school and writing a dissertation. (Required)
DCP7911 - Advanced Design, Construction and Planning Research I (3) Prereq: STA6167, Coreq: DCP7794, For entering Ph. D. students. Survey and critical analysis of research in the disciplines of design, construction and planning with an emphasis on theory and methods. (Required)
DCP7912 - Advanced Design, Construction and Planning Research II (3) Prereq: DCP7911, Conduct of advanced research in architecture, design, landscape, planning, and construction. (Suggested but not Required)
DCP7940 - Supervised Teaching (1-5; max: 5) Prereq: Not open to students who have taken 6940, Independent student teaching under supervision of faculty member. S/U. (Suggested but not Required)
DCP7949 - Professional Internship (1-5; max: 5) Professional faculty-supervised practicum. (Suggested but not Required)
DCP7979 - Advanced Research (1-12) Research for doctoral students before admission to candidacy. Designed for students with a master's degree in the field of study or for students who have been accepted for a doctoral program. Not open to students who have been admitted to candidacy. S/U. (Suggested but not Required)
DCP7980 - Research for Doctoral Dissertation (1-15) S/U. (Required)
