Scholarship Opportunities


The Architectural Precast Association, $1,500 Tom Cory Memorial Scholarship will be awarded this April, 2008.  It could very well go to a student at your college. We are asking that you contact your architectural student body to inform them of this opportunity.  Attached is a flyer which can be distributed to the students along with the scholarship application.

Requirements:

Cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher. Must maintain a 3.0 G.P.A. during scholarship period.
Must continue education in pursuit of an architectural degree
Must have at least two semesters of school left to complete from date of award.
Must be involved in activities related to the architectural field.

Leifur EirĂ­ksson Foundation Scholarships

The Leifur EirĂ­ksson Foundation funds scholars from U.S. universities for graduate research or study at universities in Iceland , and scholars from universities in Iceland to conduct research or study at universities in the United States .

Recipients are chosen by the Foundation's Board of Trustees. Up to $25,000 in project costs, including travel to and from the research or study site will be paid on the scholar's behalf.

2006-2007 Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship

Three major Fellowships will be awarded, one of $7,500 in art, architecture, dance, landscape architecture, music, theatre, or urban and regional planning; one of $7,500 in art, architecture or music; and an additional one in music for $15,000. One or two alternate awards of $1,000 each may be granted upon committee recommendation. The deadline for receipt of applications is Jan 4, 2006. AIA Arthur N. Tuttle Jr. Graduate Fellowship : All applications must be submitted to the American Institute of Architects. For further details and application materials, please visit http://www.aia.org/aah . Applications must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2006. Awards will be announced in March 2006. Recent awards have been in the $4,500 to 9,000 range.


Fifth Annual NCARB Prize
Deadline : Feb 1, 2006.
Enter the 2006 NCARB Prize, and your program could win the $25,000 grand prize! Your submission must represent a unique effort to integrate education and practice initiatives while allowing students to earn academic credit. Now in its fifth year, the NCARB Prize supports combined practice and education initiatives at the university level. Architecture schools with NAAB-accredited degree programs are invited to submit established projects, completed or in progress by the end of the fall 2005 term, that respond to the integration of education with practice.

The RTKL Traveling Fellowship
Deadline : Feb 15, 2006.
The RTKL Traveling Felloship is intended to support foregn travel undertaken to further educational goals. Applications are accepted from students planning independant foreign travel outside the U.S. and those who have been selected to participate in established shool travel programs. Applicants must be in the second-to-last year of a BArch or MArch program when applying and complete the travel prior to graduation. One fellowship of $2,500 is awarded. The announcement will be made in April. The award will be disbursed prior to confirmed travel arrangements. For details and entry form:

The 2005 School of Architecture Scholarship and Awards

Alpha Rho Chi Medal
This medal is awarded to a graduating professional degree student who has achieved not only scholastic distinction, but also has shown high ideals and professional aspirations, as well as public service and leadership within the school, college and university.

The American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Medal
This medal is awarded to the most outstanding graduating professional degree student by the national office of the American institute of Architects for general excellence in architecture throughout the recipient's academic career.

The American Institute of Architects Certificate of Merit
Awarded by the national office of the Institute, this certificate goes to an outstanding graduating professional degree student as the runner-up for the henry Adams medal, acknowledging general excellence in architecture throughout the recipient's academic career.

Distinguished Service Award
This award goes to an individual (non-alumnus) chosen by the Architecture faculty for outstanding contributions to the school and the profession.

Young Architects Design Award
This award was initiated in 1995 and is given each year to alumni of the School of Architecutre who have graduaged within the previous 20 years and have made significant design contributions in the architecutre profession early in their careers.

Alfonso Architects - VI:A Scholarship
This fund supports architecture students participating in theVicenza programs.

The Andrew E. Ferendino Endowment Fund
This fund was created by the estate of Andrew Ferendino and the firm Spillis Candela & Partners in memory of Andrew Ferendino, a 1933 UF architecture graduate. Ferendino spent the latter part of his successful architecture career as a partner with the firm Spillis Candela & Partners, one of the oldest and largest total design, engineering and construction management firms in the southeastern United States. It awards scholarships to incoming graduate students.

Architecture Academic Achievement Awards
These awards honor academic excellence and achievement in the undergraduate program to graduating undergraduate design students with outstanding work in all areas of study.

Architecture Design Honor Awards
These awards for graduating students acknowledge outstanding achievement and consistent performance in the architecture design studio sequence.

Arthur Blenn Anderson Scholarship Endowment Fund
This endowed fund was created by the estate of Arthur Blenn Anderson and supports scholarships for advanced training in architecture.

The Vasant P. and Carol Carswell Bhide Scholarship
This scholarship is given to a student from Washington or Holmes County in Florida.

Central Florida Builders Exchange
This fund created by gifts from members of the Central Florida Builders Exchange recognizes excellence in academic achievement.

The Fearney Endowed Professorship
This endowed fund was created by Ted and Barbara Fearney to support the School of Architecture faculty and/or a visiting professor.

Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects Bronze Medal
This is a medal awarded to a graduating professional degree student of outstanding academic distinction.

Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects Certificate
This award for outstanding achievement is given to a graduate student in his or her next-to-last year of study.

FRSA/Earl Blank Memorial Faculty Fellowship
Sponsored by the Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association in memory of Earl Blank, this endowed award is given to architecture faculty allowing integrate roofing research into their instruction of architecture students.

The Guy C. Fulton Award
This award was established by Shirley A. Fulton in memory of her hus-band Guy C. Fulton, an architect to the Board of Control from 1945-56. Fulton was responsible for designing and supervising the construction of buildings at UF, believing in unity and cohesiveness throughout them.

Gainesville AIA Chapter Scholarship
Sponsored by the Gainesville Chapter of The American Institute of Architects, this scholarship is awarded to an outstanding incoming graduate student.

The Erwin Gerber Memorial Scholarship in Architecture
A scholarship funded by the Zoller Family Foundation, this award is given to an incoming graduate student who displays academic excellence and financial need.

The Martin Gundersen, Sr. Award
Architecture professor Martin Gundersen, Jr. established this fund in honor of his father. It recognizes the top student entering the fourth year.

Harvard Jolly Clees Toppe Scholarship
Founded in 1938, Harvard Jolly Clees Toppe Architects is one of Florida's oldest and largest architecture firms. Harvard Jolly has six offices throughout Florida specializing in healthcare, educational, library, museum and governmental facilities. The principals and most of the architectural staff are University of Florida graduates. The endowed scholarship they provided will be awarded to an incoming graduate student.

The Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum Graduate Fellowship: Tampa Office
Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum is one of the largest architecture, engineering, planning, interior, graphics and consulting firms in the world. The Tampa office sponsored this fellowship to be awarded to an incoming graduate student with outstanding credentials.

The Louis C. Holloway Scholarship
This endowed fund was created by the estate of Louis C. Holloway in his honor. Holloway, a 1950 UF architecture alumnus, spent his career designing homes in the North Florida area. The scholarship is awarded to graduate students who exhibit a record of excellence.

Sanford Goin Scholarship
This endowed scholarship honors Sanford Goin, a prominent Gainesville architect who designed buildings throughout the city beginning in the late 1930s. The funds were developed jointly by his son, Sanford Goin, Jr. and the Gainesville branch of the AIA.

Robert Miller Endowed Scholarship in Architecture
Robert and Diane Miller established this endowed scholarship for an incoming graduate student demonstrating academic excellence and financial need. While Robert was earning his bachelor's degree in archi-tecture from UF in 1970, he was awarded a scholarship and bestows the same honor to graduate students today.

Robert Bradford Newman Award
This annual award by the Robert Bradford Newman Foundation is for excellence in architectural acoustics.

RLE, Inc. Scholarship
Rogers, Lovelock and Fritz, Inc. of Winter Park is an innovative architec-ture, engineering and interior design firm, the oldest continuously practicing of its type in Florida. This annual architecture award is part of the Central Florida Builders Exchange Scholarship.

James Gamble Rogers Memorial Graduate Fellowship
This fellowship is in memory of James Gamble Rogers II, an architect and founder of the architecture firm RLF, Inc. It is provided by the firm and the namesake's son, UF alumnus John H. Rogers of RLF, Inc., and is awarded to an outstanding student entering the graduate program.

The Sheila K. Rydell Memorial Award
Sponsored by Robbins Bell and Kuehlem Architects, this award is given to a fifth-year student who has exhibited outstanding accomplishment along with qualities of leadership, community service and professional attitude.

Frank J. Sindelar Scholarship Fund
This endowed fund was created by the estate of Frank J. Sindelar.

Otis A. Skinner Scholarship
This scholarship for graduate study is based on financial need and academic merit.

The John Stovall Memorial Scholarships
This endowed fund was created by the estate of John Stovall, a former NASA employee who graduated from UF in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in architecture.

F. Louis Wolff Scholarships
Given by F. Louis Wolff, a 1955 architecture graduate who worked his way through college, this scholarship provides assistance to a student who will recognize the gift and return it in the same capacity later in life. The scholarship is awared for third-year students.
