The University of Florida requires all of its students to
have
around-the-clock access to a computer with e-mail and Internet
access, either purchased, rented or borrowed. The UF School
of Architecture requires students in the third and fourth
years of its Bachelor of Design program and all of its graduate
students to have a computer that meets the following specifications:
Minimum Required Computer Configuration
Format:
Notebook or laptop style computer
Hardware:
- Processor Intel Duo Core 1.8 GHz min
- NOTE: Apple MacBook Pro laptops can run Windows and the requisite architectural software previously limited to PC's, so with Mac OS and Windows installed, these laptops are approved as well)
- Memory 1 GB SDRAM (for XP) 2 GB (for Vista)
- Video Card 128 MB Video Card (min) (prefer 256 MB)
- Primary Hard Drive 60GB Hard Drive (min)
- Operating System Software Microsoft(r) WindowsXP Professional (not home)
- Network Adapter Xircom(r) 10/100 Ethernet II PC Card
- Modem 56K PCMCIA
- CD Drives 8X CDRW Max Variable Drive (prefer 16X combo drive) (DVD burner suggested)
Software:
Software packages for architectural applications can be
purchased through the UF Technology Hub on campus at greatly
discounted prices. A list of required software programs
will be available from your instructors or from John Maze
our director of digital architecture at maze@ufl.edu.
