The studio is based in Guadalajara, Guadalajara, the capital of the state of Jalisco, the second most populous city in Mexico. It lies less than four hundred miles (640 kilometers) west of Mexico City, at an altitude of 5220 feet (1570 meters). Guadalajara anchors the southwestern end of the Mesa Central and is located near the middle of the valley of Guadalajara (in geographic terms, a basin or bolson), through which flows the Rio Santiago on its journey from nearby Lake Chapala to the Pacific. Due to its altitude, the city lies in the tierra templada ("temperate land") with mild daytime temperatures of 75-85 F° most of the year, except in the warmer months of April and May when the temperature can reach 90°. Rainfall varies between 20 and 40 inches a year and comes mostly between May and October. Luis Barragan was born raised and began his practice in the city. The city is in surrounded by numerous haciendas which many date from the founding of the city. The city is host to Universidad de Guadalajara, one of the major universities in Mexico.

Hotel

Hotel accommodations are located in a quiet residential area located between the historic downtown and the postwar suburbs. Built around a courtyard, the hotel follows the early modern style of surrounding structures that date from the 1920's, 30's and 40's. The hotel is conveniently located near shopping, and restaurants. Rooms are double occupancy with private baths and fans. A small swimming pool is located in the courtyard of the hotel. Bus transportation is good and inexpensive, with connections available to many surrounding points of interest.
