Academic Advising

The Advising Center for the College of DCP is located on the 3rd floor of the Architecture Building in room 331 ARCH. Andrew Wehle is the Director of Student Services for the college and advises undergraduate students in all disciplines.

Undergraduate Students

Freshman and sophomore advising takes place at the dean’s office. Undergraduate students seeking academic advising in architecture, interior design or landscape architecture should contact Director of Student Services Andrew Wehle at wehleaj@ufl.edu or his Program Assistant David P. Ellis at dellis@ufl.edu. Students seeking academic advising in building construction should contact the Rinker School of Building Construction Admissions/Registrar Officer Sallie Schattner at sallieas@ufl.edu.

Graduate Students

Graduate students are to be advised by the graduate coordinator. He or she has guided the student's application through the acceptance process and is familiar with the student's background and needs. A plan of study is developed that includes required and optional courses. By the end of the second semester of study, each student is required to form a supervisory committee comprised of two faculty members. The primary purpose of the graduate committee is to advise the student on educational objectives and the thesis or project course work. Doctoral students seeking academic advising can also contact Program Assistant Juanita Melchior at melchoir@dcp.ufl.edu.

Academic Learning Compacts

Academic Learning Compacts are agreements that describe the communication skills, critical thinking skills, and content knowledge in the major (known collectively as Student Learning Outcomes) that students should acquire if they diligently follow the prescribed course of study. UF is required to assess student achievement in these Student Learning Outcomes through Individual Student Assessments before graduation. Satisfactory completion of the ISAs constitutes successful completion of the Academic Learning Compact.
