Freshman Admissions

At the undergraduate level, freshman admissions is handled by the UF Office of Admissions. UF requires incoming freshmen to submit an on-line application. All prospective students must submit their application through the UF Office of Admission's Website. You can go back to the site to check your status before you receive a decision. Also, all students must have copies of their high school transcripts and any applicable test scores sent to UF.

The UF Office of Admission will notify you via e-mail to log on to Application Status on their Website to receive your admission decision. Admission notification also will be mailed to you. Your notification time will vary according to how and when you applied to the university.

General Undergraduate Transfer Admissions

To be eligible for admission as a general transfer student into the College of Design, Construction and Planning, students must have completed all requirements for the A.A. degree (transfer students only), passed the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) and completed two sequential foreign language courses in secondary school or 8-10 credits at the postsecondary level (or documented an equivalent level of proficiency). Admission is open to applicants who have completed all General Education and pre-professional course work and qualify for enrollment into third-year professional course work.

Conditional admission is open to applicants who have completed a general A.A. degree (for Community College Students) or have accumulated 60 credits of college-level course work (for university transfer students) and met the admissions criteria, yet still need to complete first-year and second-year preprofessional courses. Generally, transfer students with an A.A. degree and CLAST or students from other universities that do not offer approved preprofessional programs or courses required at the University of Florida are considered for conditional admission. These students may require as many as four semesters at the university to complete the preprofessional requirements due to the sequential nature of the courses. Once at UF, students should consult with an academic advisor to plan out the necessary courses required for the first couple of years.

All students are required to participate in an exhibit of their work in studio courses during Semester 4. Upper-division admission into Semester 5 Professional Program is selective and competitive. Admission requirements vary by academic unit so student should consult the corresponding academic unit for details.

Each department/school may consider any or all of the following for admissions review:

  • Quality of work completed, overall GPA and preprofessional GPA.
  • Achievements in preprofessional courses and/or courses related to the chosen plan of study.
  • Portfolio review or pin-up (design students).

For specific information, visit the school/department Websites or contact the undergraduate program assistants.
