Both UF and community college applicants for upper-division placement are ranked competitively according to overall GPA, architectural GPA and faculty evaluation of design studio work in the annual pin-up exhibits to determine if they qualify for placement in the upper-division of the Bachelor of Design curriculum. Transfer students must have at least a 2.75 GPA for Summer admission and a 3.0 for Fall admission.
The Rinker School of Building Construction accepts the top 60 students into upper-division each Fall and Spring semester based on GPA.
Students seeking admission into the upper division must apply through the department during the Spring semester of the second year. The student must provide a letter of application and must design and install an exhibit of work from design studios. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.80 and their exhibit must demonstrate strong design skills.
Students seeking upper-division admission into the Department of Landscape Architecture prepare a pin-up at the end on their second year that entails a 3'x7' exhibit of their work. They do not turn in a portfolio. Based on the approval of their pin-up and a positive academic record to date, they are admitted into upper division.
