School and Department Requirements

Each of the academic units has its own admissions requirements that you must meet in addition to the university's minimum requirements of the Graduate School, which are as follows:

Minimum Requirements for Master's Degree

  1. Applicants must have an undegraduate degree.
  2. Undergraduate GPA, calculated from the last 60 semester credits (or 90 quarter credits) of your bachelor’s degree must be a minimum of 3.0.
  3. Minimum Verbal + Quantitative total score of 1000 on the GRE.
  4. If you are a foreign applicant, your Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score must be a minimum of 550.

Minimum Requirements for Doctorate Degree

  1. Applicants must have a master's degree in a field represented by the disciplines in the college (some academic units will accept master's degrees in related fields such as enginerring or business).
  2. Graduate GPA must be a minimum of 3.0.
  3. Minimum Verbal + Quantitative total score of 1200 on the GRE.
  4. If you are a foreign applicant, your Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score must be a minimum of 550.

NOTE: In special circumstances, the school/department admissions committee may admit students with lesser credentials on a conditional basis.
