Architecture
- ARC associate professor Donna L. Cohen and visiting professor Claude E. Armstrong received Holcim Acknowledgement Award for sustainable construction (see story)
- ARC student Will Zajac was selected as the runner-up for the 2008 Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Foundation Prize for Architecture, Design and Urban Design
- Historic Preservation master’s students in the Fall 2007 ARC 6911 Field Work Preservation class received the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation’s Education/Media Award for 2007-08
Building Construction
- The Shimberg Center for Affordable Housing, in partnership with the Florida Housing Finance Corp. and the Florida Housing Coalition, was a finalist in The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s State and Local Preservation Leaders award
- UF Construction Management student team won first place at the 2008 Student Construction Management Competition at the Associated Builders and Contractors National Convention
Interior Design
- Undergraduate program ranked 5th and the graduate program 7th in DesignIntelligence’s 9th annual America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools 2008 survey
- IND student Anne Baumstarck was the recipient of the 2007 Gensler Brinkman Scholarship (see story)
- IND student Joo Youl Pae won first prize in the Retail Design Institute’s 2008 National Student Design Competition (see story)
Landscape Architecture
- Undergraduate program ranked 13th in DesignIntelligence’s 9th annual America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools 2008 survey.
- Peggy Carr, associate dean for undergraduate student and academic affairs and LAE professor, received the 2008 Florida Blue Key Distinguished Faculty Award
- LAE student Kimberly S. Heiss won a research Honor Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects’ 2007 Student Awards
Urban & Regional Planning
- Department ranked 15th in Planitzen’s list of Top 25 planning programs in the nation (see story)
- The GeoPlan Center’s “Efficient Transportation Decision-Making” process received Exemplary Human Environment Initiative and Exemplary Ecosystem Initiative status from the Federal Highway Administration
- URP student Iris Patten was selected the 2008 Student of the Year by the Florida chapter of the American Planning Association
