WELCOME MESSAGE
The Department of Interior Design is eager to welcome you as a graduate student! We offer a challenging program of study directed by prominent and gifted scholars and teachers in a diverse and stimulating university environment. The Master of Interior Design (MID) educates students to become professionals in practice, to engage in research, and to develop a specialization in the design of the built environment.

We accept students with prior educational experience from any field. Each student works with the graduate coordinator to evaluate his or her background and to determine the specific courses needed to strengthen the student's educational foundation and interests. In addition to coursework, the main requirement of the MID degree is a written thesis with a research component. A specialized design project may comprise a portion of the written thesis. The course of study can take anywhere from 2 to 4 years depending on the background and goals of each student.

All new students begin their studies in the fall semester to coincide with curriculum sequencing. Applications are processed through February 2 for the fall semester and all applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Admission decisions are made between February and the end of March. Although a personal interview is not required for admission, we encourage applicants to visit the campus and department as part of the application process. If you plan to visit, please contact me at (352) 392-0252, ext. 337 to arrange a meeting time.

We invite you to read the rest of this homepage and to click on highlighted phrases to learn more about faculty research, service, and teaching; available courses; and the application process.
