Conference Venue and Timeline

Convening in Chicago represents a return to the city where the idea of IPHS was fully developed in the late 1980s, and where the traditions of planning and historical investigations of urban development run deep.  Chicago is a city where the past, present and the future collide throughout the built environment.
The venue for the conference will be the Chicago Marriott Downtown on North Michigan Avenue. This is the preferred accommodation venue as well and special rates will be available for delegates. The IPHS conference follows immediately the joint 2008 American-European planning schools conference (ACSP-AESOP) which will be held immediately prior to IPHS in the same venue.  IPHS will offer a discount price for those who are also fully registered for the ACSP/AESOP conference.

Hotel registration will be possible later in 2007, with full information available through the IPHS 2008 Conference web site.  Hotel reservations will be made directly with the Chicago Marriott Downtown.

Conference Tours:
An array of tours will be available to conference participants, scheduled both for July 10 (Thursday afternoon) and July 11 (Friday morning) and Sunday (July 13th).  It is likely that some will precede the opening conference sessions on Friday but updated information will be forthcoming on the tour and sessions schedules.
